Medical and Surgery Decisions
Gallagher Bassett aims to decide on any requests made by you and your treating health practitioners for medical or surgery treatment within 5 days of receipt.
Sometimes requests for medical and other treatments can require review by internal Gallagher Bassett or WorkSafe medical experts and this may delay any decision in regards to that treatment.
Gallagher Bassett expects that we keep you informed and up to date regarding the status of any requests however if you are unsure, please contact your case manager directly or feel free to ask us a question.
Ask us a question using our online enquiry form here.
You can also use our online services to submit your request and upload other documents here.
If a request for certain treatment on your injury is complicated or there is conflicting information in regards to the effectiveness of that treatment your request may be referred to the WorkSafe Clinical Panel for their opinion. The Clinical Panel can take time to make a decision, however if you are unsure please feel free to contact your Gallagher Bassett Case Manager.
It is possible that an Independent Medical Examiner (IME) may be asked to assess you to determine if a treatment request is reasonable based on your injury or illness. If this is the case, Gallagher Bassett will discuss this with you and outline the reasons for the examination.
